Gensler Summer 2025 Internship | Phoenix, AZ

The Herberger Theatre Pavilion in downtown Phoenix, Arizona, is a multipurpose outdoor space. Designed for outdoor music shows, the pavilion is intended to be a welcoming space for everyone during off times. A cafe on the southern side of the lot serves both show attendees and regulars. The north side opens up to the Arizona Centre, attracting customers to a pristine pavilion.

In collaboration with theatre consultants and acoustical engineers, sound studies were conducted to gauge the impact of live performances on the buildings next door; the effect of the street soundscape on the shows; and the optimal placement of speakers to enhance the audience experience.
